A better brief.
A clearer story.

Six decisions that make the writing sharper and the publishing process easier to follow.

PREPARATION, WITH PURPOSE / ILLUSTRATIVE SCENE
01

Find the news in one sentence

What is launching, changing or becoming available? Write that first. One central fact gives the story direction and tells the reader why it matters.

02

Picture the reader

A buyer, partner and investor may ask different questions. Choose your primary reader, then include the detail that helps them understand the news.

03

Bring the facts together

Gather the company description, dates, product details, approved quotes and relevant links. Keep evidence for important claims close to the draft.

04

Know where the story is going

Agree the destinations, format, distribution scope and timing before finalising the article. A sponsored placement and a syndicated release may have different requirements.

05

Give approval a clear owner

Choose one person to gather feedback and approve the final copy, images and links. Settle conflicting comments before the story is submitted.

06

Think beyond publication

Will you need a website section, a pitch slide or follow-up material? Agree those deliverables early, so the finished files arrive in the formats your team needs.
